1. Calcium/Magnesium
You in all probability recognize that calcium is beneficial for your bones. It is a component part of the solution in preventing osteoporosis – and, contrary to popular belief, it is not simply for aged people. “I advocate calcium 3 times daily beginning at age twenty,” says Dr. Roizen. “The average human can absorb just 600 mg of calcium at one time. Therefore to arrive at the exact dose, you need to separate it into 600 mg doses.” The magnesium is there to protect your stomach. It prevents constipation, bloating and other gastrointestinal irritations stimulated by the calcium. Additionally, the bulk of Americans do not ingest adequate magnesium (which is plentiful in fruits and veggies) in their diet, so regard this an insurance policy to cover all the bases.
